THIS DAY IN HISTORY

It was 19 years ago today that The Fusco Brothers debuted in the funny papers.

Do you remember where you were that day? Most people do, the same way they remember where they were for other tragedies, like the JFK assassination or the release of Justin Timberlake's first solo CD.

I don't remember where I was, but that's probably because I knew it was coming, so I was prepared for it.

It was first syndicated by Lew Little Enterprises, then six months later it was picked up by Universal Press Syndicate, where it still remains.

Included in the press kit that Universal gave to newspapers who bought the strip was this ad. The characters have evolved over the years (haven't we all?), and looking back, they all looked like rats back then.

But who doesn't love rats?
