THE DAY MY AMAZON PACKAGE ACCEPTED ITS FATE

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DOLL

I posted this photo of Marchesa Luisa Casati on this blog in 2018, under the NO SCARY MAKEUP REQUIRED label.

I just saw this quote from Jack Kerouac:

"Marchesa Casati
is a living doll
Pinned on my Frisco
Skid Row wall."

When I was in my mid-20s I lived in a crummy apartment (NOT on Skid Row), and I had this picture taped (not pinned) to my wall. I'd found it in a magazine and put it up because I thought she was scary, not a "living doll."

I've seen other images of her since then in which she's slightly less scary. I guess scary is in the eye of the beholder.

THE OLD COLLAGE TRY

Many years ago I did this 4' x 2' 8" collage. Over the years the the glue I used apparently stopped doing its job, and the pieces of paper started falling off inside the plexiglass-covered frame I had it in. I guess I should have varnished the whole thing back then.

Anyway, before throwing it out, I took some poor-quality photos of it to preserve it in a half-assed way.
