A few years ago I submitted this idea for the cover of "The New Yorker Cartoons of the Year." (I just took the previous year's cover and inserted my own rough sketch.) They didn't go for it. It's slightly ironic that this effort got me nowhere, while doing nothing this year got me somewhere.

HMM, THAT LOOKS FAMILIAR

Imagine my shock when I saw "The New Yorker Cartoons of the Year 2014" bookazine on Amazon. They failed to mention that they were putting a cartoon of mine on the cover. As shocks go, it was a pleasant one for a change.
