SARTORIAL CONTROVERSY

Aren't all three pieces in a three-piece suit the same color? My colorist at Universal Press Syndicate doesn't seem to think so. I wonder what color the pants are.

  1. It depends on the era. When I started wearing three-piecers in the 1960s, they were indeed usually comprised of the same fabric for all three pieces, but when I see that contrast or plaid or lighter colored vest, I think of an era another 40-80 years before that.

  4. I ran into your colorist (W.M.) at McDonald's today. He's always been nice to me, so I decided against bringing this up. (Don't forget; he's rather young. I doubt if three-piece suits have ever been a part of his wardrobe.)
