THE PRICE OF LEGS

This is a sculpture by Robert Gober called "Untitled Leg, 1989-90."



This is a cartoon of mine that ran in the New Yorker in 1999.



The former sold for 3.6 million dollars. The latter, not quite as much.


Maybe I'm in the wrong line.

VARIATIONS ON A THEME

Here we see Fido in the desert, encountering a cactus that is also a fire hydrant:


And here we see Fido in the city, encountering a a fire hydrant that is also a cactus:


In the first cartoon, Fido is happy. In the second cartoon, he is not. It's all about context, Fido. And the reasonable expectations of a simpleminded animal who does a lot of traveling on business.
